The Economic Club of Tampa Announces the Florida Economic Forum Monday, March 16, 2020 

Summary:  The Economic Club of Tampa (ECOT) announces its sixth annual event the  Florida Economic Forum featuring a panel discussion themed “Tampa Bay: Road to Winning the White House” to be held Monday, March 16, 2020 with proceeds benefiting the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s (HEF) Take Stock in Children College Scholarship and Mentoring Program.  The club will honor The Economic Leader of the Year, Joc O’Rourke, President & CEO, Mosaic and the Lifetime Achievement Award winners Jim & Celia Ferman.

Tampa, Fla., Sunday, March 1, 2020 – The Economic Club of Tampa (ECOT) announces the Florida Economic Forum to be held Monday, March 16, 2020 at the University Club(VIP Reception 11:00 am – 11:30 am and Lunch Event Program 11:45 am – 1:00pm).

The Honorary Chair of this year’s Forum is The Honorable Jane Castor, Mayor, City of Tampa.  The panel will discuss “Tampa Bay: Road to Winning the White House” with Moderator Dr. Susan McManus, USF Emerita, Political Science and Keynote Panelists Alex Sink (D), Former FL CFO & Gubernatorial Candidate and Sandra Murman (R), Hillsborough County Commissioner & Former Speaker Pro-tempore of the Florida House of Representatives.   “Each year our club highlights unique economic assets of the Tampa Bay Region and offers a luncheon open to members, guests and the public. This year our panelists will discuss the pivotal role Hillsborough and surrounding counties play in the U.S. Presidential primary and general election,” Elizabeth Hapner, President, ECOT.

The 2020 Economic Leader of the Year Award will be presented to Joc O’Rourke, President & CEO, The Mosaic Company.  The annual economic impact of Port Tampa Bay by Mosaic is $12 billion, making it one of the largest contributors to the regional economy. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Jim & Celia Ferman for philanthropy.

“This year’s event will help the Economic Club of Tampa fund 5 more college and vocational training scholarships for local students,” ECOT President Elizabeth Hapner said, “in large part due to 35 member volunteers and sponsors.”

The Florida Economic Forum co-chairs Peter Lefferts and Sharon Marino are pleased with the enthusiastic response from the community for the event.  Various sponsorship packages are available and single tickets range from $100 for the forum lunch only and $200 which includes a VIP Reception and Priority Seating.
