Dr. John Dorrell applies economic fundamentals to the future of finance, with a particular focus on Bitcoin and monetary systems. He is an economics professor at the University of Tampa’s John H. Sykes College of Business and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Pusan National University in South Korea.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Dorrell serves as Chief Economist at eCoinomics, one of the leading Bitcoin consulting firms in the United States, and is the Chairman of the University of Tampa Bitcoin Club. He taught the first university-level Bitcoinomics course in America, helping to pioneer formal academic study of Bitcoin.
Dr. Dorrell’s research applies rigorous econometric analysis to Bitcoin, empirically demonstrating its deflationary nature based on supply growth relative to loss rates. Most recently, he developed the blueprint for university Bitcoin endowments, further advancing institutional adoption and understanding of sound money principles.
