Steve Harris is the Vice President of Payor & Governmental Affairs at Tampa General Hospital (TGH), a nationally renowned nonprofit academic health system.

In this role, Harris provides regulatory reimbursement oversight to the organization, supervises payor contracting matters, and represents TGH on issues involving the state legislature and congress.

Prior to joining TGH, Harris was a senior manager in the KPMG Healthcare Advisory practice. While at KPMG, he worked with the firm’s hospital clients in the preparation/review of the Medicare and state Medicaid cost reports, in audit support as a third-party reimbursement specialist, and special reimbursement projects including, graduate medical education, organ acquisition reimbursement, disproportionate share adjustment calculations, Medicare bad debt identification, wage index submissions, and PRRB appeals.

Harris received a master’s degree in health administration and a master’s in business administration from the University of Florida. He holds CHFP designation with the Florida Chapter of HFMA.
